THE OBJECTIVE

Your script...

It's your life. Your story.

Trauma and unpleasant experiences may shake our identity, causing a rift in self-esteem and confidence – but it doesn't mean we're limited from drafting a new narrative.

Life is like a script – you may have high stakes and intense moments where everything feels like it is against you.

But little do you know, your redemption arc is approaching. All the conflict, the drama, the uncomfortable storyline – help build character. Strong character that enables you to redefine and live out a journey that feels balanced and authentically aligned with you.

THE FACE BEHIND THE SCENES

As a licensed therapist and UBCP-ACTRA AND CMPA member, Shanelle amalgamates her understanding of creative-field psychology with her love of the entertainment industry to provide therapy that speaks to her fellow artists.

Prioritizing being person-centred with her clients – Shanelle meets you where you're at to get where you want to be. As you navigate workplace relationships and everyday stressors, she is committed to guiding you through whatever emotions or roadblocks that come your way.

Why Film Therapy

One of the most common barriers film industry professionals experience when searching for mental health support is finding a therapist that understands the distinctive struggles and complexities that come from working in a field that place high-demands on creative passions.

Therapy: Off Script works to break down those barriers. Making it easier for you to both access the help you deserve when you need it, and maintain a support system without getting discouraged or feeling misunderstood.

Our purpose.

For the conscious creative.

Constuls

We also work to educate and encourage safe on-set handling of these topics.

Accurate mental health representation matters – especially in our media. Often, we are used to seeing embellished or exaggerated portrayals of mental disorders and concerns on screen. Unfortunately, that can lead to further stigma and reduce normalizing many everyday struggles that many may face.

That is why it is so important that onscreen material reflects how mental health is actually experienced – and why we want to help creatives and productions achieve the goal of honouring honest mental health depictions.
